Prospective Students

Application and Admission

All applicants must hold a minimum of four-year bachelor's degree for admission into any graduate degree program, with the exception of five-year degree programs, which allow admission concurrently with completion of the BS.

For admission consideration, prospective students need to complete the following applications and provide all the supporting documentation. Students must pay the graduate application fee but department may consider reimbursing it for students who join the department. We offer admission in the fall as well as spring. Majority of the admissions are offered for spring semester.

GRAD APPLICATION

Required:

1. Graduate College Application

Complete the Graduate college full application online using GRAD APPLICATION with the exception of sending official IELTS and official foreign transcripts to the Center of Graduate Studies, directly. Online help is provided in the system. The code for ETS GRE is 2580. The code for TOEFL is B886.

2. Letters of Recommendation

3. GRE General Test

The GRE general test is recommended, but not required. The code for ETS GRE is 2580. Following GRE scores are considered as good standings. This is not a hard bottom-line.

Verbal 145 (25%)

Quantitative 152 (48%)

Analytical writing 3 (15%).

4. TOEFL

International students whose first language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency via TOEFL or IELTS. A TOEFL score 80 or above is required to consider for a graduate teaching assistantship. A minimum TOEFL score of 76 is required for the consideration of admission without a teaching assistantship. IELTS score of 6.5 is required if TOEFL scores are not available. The code for TOEFL is B886.

5. Statement of Purpose

Applicant should submit an essay that addresses their research interests, current research experiences, why interested in pursuing a PhD in chemistry, at NMT, and future career goal. This essay should be more than 1000 words but no more than 2000 words.
